Why Most Athletic Shorts Fail, and What We Did About It

If you train seriously, you already know the problem. You squat, you sprint, you cut hard on the court, and your shorts ride up. Every time. You adjust mid-rep. You pull them down between sets. You have accepted it as just part of working out.

We did not accept it. So we tested every major athletic short on the market to understand exactly why this keeps happening, and then we fixed it.

The Problem Is the Inseam

The standard men's athletic short has a 7-inch inseam. That was designed for a different era, and the industry largely has not moved since. A 7-inch inseam sits mid-thigh. The moment you go into a deep squat, lunge, or lateral cut, the fabric has nowhere to go, so it rides up. The shorter the inseam, the worse the problem.

The fix is straightforward: a longer inseam with fabric engineered to move with the body instead of against it.

What We Built Instead

The Fitra Core Short has a 14-inch inseam, double the industry standard. Combined with a 4-way stretch 85% polyester / 15% spandex interlock knit at 190 GSM, the shorts move with you through every plane of motion without riding up, bunching, or requiring any adjustment.

We added a diamond gusset at the crotch seam, the point of maximum stress in any athletic movement. The triangular panel creates complete freedom of movement where standard shorts pull tight. And zipped side pockets that run 7 inches deep, so your phone stays put whether you're lifting or running.

The Test We Use

Every Fitra short has to pass one test before it ships: a full squat to depth, a lateral lunge, and a kneeling position. The shorts must stay in place through all three movements. If they do not, they do not pass.

It sounds simple. It took six months to get right.
